Archer Aviation Secures Saudi Joint Venture, Tests Midnight Craft in Strategic Gulf Zone
Archer Aviation (ACHR) has inked a pivotal deal with Saudi Arabia's The Helicopter Company and Red Sea Global, establishing a joint venture to test its Midnight aircraft in key Gulf locations. The designated test zone will serve as a proving ground for real-world operations under state supervision, aligning with Saudi Arabia's broader transportation infrastructure ambitions.
Red Sea Global will spearhead testing within its controlled airspace, leveraging new sites to evaluate the aircraft's viability for short-haul, low-capacity routes. Preliminary data will determine scalability potential. Meanwhile, Archer shares gained 2.56% to $7.61 despite a 22% year-to-date decline.
Separately, Archer has partnered with Anduril Industries and EDGE Group to supply propulsion systems for the 'Ome' aircraft project—a diversification play that could open additional revenue channels. The Saudi venture marks a strategic foothold in a region aggressively modernizing its transport networks.
